 Online Conference "FOOD FOR LIFE"

In April 2025, Kyiv became the center of international scientific discussion on innovative food technologies. The Institute of Food Resources of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine gathered leading specialists from around the world for the conference "Food for Life" and the seminar "Evolution of Sugar: Advanced Technologies for the Next Generation Bioeconomy."

The geography of participants was extremely diverse, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Iran, USA, Nigeria, Turkey, Lithuania, India, China, Italy, Brazil, Thailand, Ghana, Mexico, Pakistan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and others. This international composition ensured a variety of perspectives and approaches to the development of food technologies.

Special attention was drawn to presentations by Dutch experts on revolutionary technologies for sugar beet processing and Belgian scientists on the latest developments in healthy isomaltulose and allulose. Ukrainian researchers presented innovative solutions for sugar crystallization, syrup purification, and processing of production waste.

The conference covered a wide range of innovative topics – from biotechnological methods of bioethanol production to antioxidant properties of phycocyanin from spirulina. Participants discussed the prospects of using inulin-containing plants, developing functional products with increased biological value, and creating environmentally friendly packaging materials.

Particular interest was generated by research on microbial processes in dough, technologies for low-lactose yogurts, and edible films for preserving fruit freshness. Presentations on apiphytocompositions, chemical composition of bitter spirits, and alternative protein products opened new horizons for the development of functional nutrition.

The conference not only facilitated the exchange of scientific experience but also became a platform for establishing international cooperation between scientists, manufacturers, and representatives of the food industry. Participants outlined promising directions for the development of bioeconomy, processing of secondary products, and creation of personalized food systems that will form the basis for future innovative developments.
