Abstract
The subject of the research is the current state and development prospects of the packaging industry, technical and economic issues of the use of various packaging in the sense of the functions that they perform, their production, application efficiency and necessary disposal costs, as well as their safety. The purpose of the study is to assess current trends in the development of packaging business and formulations based on the results of this assessment, the tasks of packers in the near and distant future. Methods. A systematic approach to the research of factual materials, in particular scientific and scientific-practical literature, regulatory legal acts, regulatory documents and the like, was involved in conducting research; abstract-logical approach to the synthesis of research results and the formulation of conclusions. The results of the study. Any packaging has its own cost, which is primarily associated with the packaging function, the most important of which are the effectiveness of product protection from damage and damage, loss from leakage and rash, from changes in the product itself. The last function is determined by the type of packaging material, the design of the packaging itself, technologies and equipment for their production. The current trend is the use of lighter, cheaper soft and hard polymer packaging based on shrink and stretch films – consumer, group and transport. Paper and cardboard packaging, lightweight glass packaging, etc. do not lose their relevance. Containers made of tin and aluminum also remain in trend. A variety of food products and drinks are consumed, these being which are packaged in boxes, cans, bottles, bags and other types of packaging made of various materials, which should guarantee the quality of the product and its safety; the packaging material should not adversely affect the product, changing it from safe into dangerous for the consumer and the environment. The packaging design, all its corking elements and functional means should ensure the safety of products throughout its entire life cycle – from production to consumption. Packaging can be controlled by assessing the condition of the final product (packaging) and production safety problems that appear and are eliminated after they have appeared. The second way to control consists in using the principles of HACCP, according to which hazardous factors and their negative impact on packaging should be prevented, monitoring to carry out at all stages of production, storage and sale of packaging. The second approach is recognized to be rational. The informative functions of packaging are important, as well as its functionality (convenience), which should be implemented throughout its entire life cycle: during its processing (filling, corking, warehousing), distribution of products on the markets; consumer use. Almost all types of packaging can be recycled, thereby reducing pollution and saving raw materials. The scope of the research results. The results of the research will be used for the technical improvement of packaging materials, applied technologies, specialized technological equipment and the like
