Abstract
The purpose of the article is the scientific, methodological and practical basis for the formation of food demand. The purpose of the article is to justify, based on a retrospective analysis, the influence of national traditions and gender characteristics on the formation of consumer demand for food in modern conditions. Research Methodology. Using the abstract logical method and the method of generalization, the main trends in the development of agro-food production are identified, the analysis of gender problems as an urgent issue of our time, which is one of the main in ensuring the development of society. Results of the research. Based on the study and generalization of the theoretical achievements of domestic scientists who studied the problems of forming consumer demand for food, the role of women as the main individual of the gender potential of agro-food production, which preserves and embodies national food traditions in the formation of modern consumer demand for food, is substantiated. The emphasis is placed on the fact that the development of agricultural policy should take into account gender equality, in particular the active involvement of women in the process of making managerial decisions, as well as providing access to established new priorities in the farm system, where they become the main actors. It is noted that overcoming gender inequality and expanding the empowerment of rural women in the context of an imperfect institutional environment for agro-food development requires improved state regulation. Scope of research results. The results of the study are of a scientific and practical nature and can become the basis for further scientific research on the formation of food demand, the activation of the leadership potential of rural women in the processes of local self-government and the prospects for solving these problems in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals.
